LIVONIA – Entering his third season, head coach Jim Brownell is excited about this year’s Alpine Ski team which will include the Livonia/Geneseo boys and Livonia/Avon girls.
Last year, Brownell’s boys placed first in both the Southern Tier Ski League and Class B Sectionals.
The girls placed third in the league.
This year’s boys will be led by defending league champion Max McEnerney, a junior who finished second sectionals in the Slalom while qualifying for the NYS Championships.
Senior George Christian will look to improve his seventh-place league standing after a strong performance at sectionals with an eighth-place Slalom finish.
Junior Caden Cavo looks to break into the league’s top 10 after finishing last year strong with an 11th-place finish at sectionals in the GS.
The girls will be led by seniors Alissa Kaufman, Catherine Rosser and Grace Denney all of whom look to break into the league top-10. Alissa and Catherine had a strong sectional performance in the SL with seventh and 15th place finishes respectively.
Sophomore Sophia Denney will be adding depth to the team.
Top newcomers include eighth-grader Lincoln Donegan, who will make the jump to varsity and add skill and depth to the boys team.
For the girls, freshman Maeve Seeley will look to make an impact on the varsity team after finishing last year as the top female modified skier.
“The boys are looking to three-peat as both the Southern Tier League and Section V Class B champions,” Coach Brownell said. “The girls are looking to have a breakout season and compete for both the Southern Tier League & Section V Class B championship. The team is highly motivated and already working hard, once we hit the slopes they will stick to our motto – ‘Ski Fast and Take Chances!”
