The incumbent has been serving Hornell since 2009

From Melissa Ponticello, Candidate for Hornell City Council,

I stand on a financially sound budget, one that both looks out for our community and is conscious of taxpayers. So many other communities are just rolling over their taxpayers with huge increases in taxes and real property assessments. I am a strong believer that there has to be a balance. One that helps to keep the City budget flowing and also to keep taxes to a reasonable amount for our residents. I have been on the finance committee since I started on the council in 2009, and have seen good years and also had to work through some of the hardest budget years (Covid). I have helped to make sound decisions in our City budget.

Our neighborhoods are what make our City special. Each year I have worked with the Department of Public Works to make sure our streets get the attention they need. We have to look out for the best interests of our residents and be respectful of our neighbors, whether it is working with the Codes Department or be it a different city department to help our residents with a resolution to their problem or concern.

You will find that I am a pretty straightforward person. I do not promise things I cannot deliver on. I will be honest and tell my fellow neighbors that I will check into what their concern may be and help them solve it, and help them get in touch with the right folks within the City that can assist with their concerns.

I think this speaks to the person I am regardless of party affiliation, I look to do what makes sense for the City and for our residents.

Thank you,

Melissa Ponticello
