Celebrating the community of artisan distillers in FLX

There is much to share about this project…too much for a post, but here’s the skinny.

As many of you know we have been working for a few years on building a “Hollerhorn Spirit Society”-a small group of spirit nerds like us to share notes and build community here. This release represents the first major step in that direction. We want these bottles to celebrate artists, and the creativity of the distillers making the spirits, because we feel they are very much the same. Each release will feature an artist we admire, and an artwork we feel inspired by.

This inaugural release features one of our very own @peoplefears (Phoebe Quinn). The spirit is a blended Rye Whiskey-a marriage of (2) Hollerhorn Empire Rye barrels, and (1) @wildernesstraildistillery Rye whiskey barrel. The blend was put together with a team of friends who help run other Whisk(e)y/Spirit groups in the area, and was a way to make the tent a little bigger by sharing opinions and tasting notes through the blending process. @rocnyelitebarrelpickers @rochesterwhiskeyenthusiasts and Nick Laplant who is part of the Syracuse Spirit Society all came down to the distillery to work on this, and we came up with an absolutely stunning Rye Whiskey! Years ago I(Karl) was lucky enough to study with @dr_pat_heist who is one of the founders of Wilderness Trail Distillery in Kentucky, and is making some of the best Bourbon and Rye in the country in our opinion, and he helped make this collaboration possible by helping us bring in some fantastic barrels of theirs to marry with ours. This is officially being released today as a distillery and private group pick, and we are also offering it on our tasting menu until it’s gone for folks who just want to have a sip or two to see what it’s all about 🥃

Happy Weekend! if you’d like to be a part of this please email us your contact info, and we will follow up in the coming months as we set up our fist gathering: hello@hollerhorn.com
