Over 20 livestock dead, investigation leads to arrest, live cows need grain, hay

Over 20 livestock are dead and a Fillmore man has been charged with 34 counts after a joint investigation by the Town of Independence Police Department and investigators from the SPCA Serving Allegany County.

On Saturday, Independence Police charged Christopher W. Reinbold, 43 of Fillmore, with 34 counts under an Agriculture and Markets Law that covers “overdriving, torturing and injuring an animal and failure to provide sustenance (food and water).

The warrant was issued to the SPCA, who assists Independence Police. Reinbold was issued appearance tickets for Town of Independence Court in February.

While over 20 animals died, many are alive and the public can help the SPCA Serving Allegany County.

Hay and certain grains are needed. To make a donation or to check on the grains, call the SPCA at 585-593-2200. The shelter is at 5440 State Route 19  in Belmont.
