This Thursday is “Balance Effect,” lots of vendors, and kids fun

Hornell Partners for Growth (HPG) is excited to announce its latest community event. “Thursdays at the Square” are taking place at Union Square Park in Hornell. For 9 Thursdays starting June 27, excluding July 4th, we will bring you a different form of entertainment, Live Music, DJ Kids Party, Karaoke, & Puppet Show. Food & Craft Vendors will be set up and the City fountain will be on from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM! Each week HPG will also provide FREE kids activities and free Ice-pops, while supplies last. We’ll also have plenty of chairs set out for relaxation and a designated area for those who want to dance and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Anyone interested in setting up as a vendor should reach out to HPG at 607-324-9786. We are also looking for a farmer to set up for those unable to make daytime markets in the area.
These events are open to Sponsorships at three great levels: Bronze: $100+ mention on Social Media Platforms, website, and Discover Hornell App; Silver: $250+ Benefits of the Bronze & a Yard sign featuring your company’s Name and logo placed by the stage during each sponsored event, and Gold: $500+ Benefits of Silver & mentions during our Radio Advertising. Each event can have more than one sponsor; doing so helps us bring more free activities to the community. June 27th: The inaugural “Thursdays at the Square” event is set to take place from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The highlight of the evening will be a live performance by Balanced Effect at 7pm. Explore a variety of craft vendors showcasing unique and handmade items. Our featured food vendor, The Dog Doctors, will be offering a mouth-watering selection of hot dogs, sausages, walking tacos, and more. The children will have a blast with free activities, including a build-your-own mini birdhouse station. This night’s event is sponsored by ServU Credit Union.
July 11th: From 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, enjoy the whimsical Port-A-Globe Mobile Puppet Theater, perfect for all ages. DJ Truth is hosting a Kids Dance Party from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The whole family can enjoy FREE Professional face painting by Badger & Butterfly Studios. Joining us again are the Dog Doctors food vendor and several craft vendors. This night’s event is sponsored by Marino’s Restaurant.
July 25th: Enjoy an Acoustic & Unplugged night with Ellen Oaks Kerr at 6:00 PM, John Weatherbee at 7:00 PM, and Shepard Pi closing the night at 8:00 PM. The Dog Doctors food vendor will be there as well as our craft vendors. Make a night of it in the Square!
July 18th: DJ Truth is bringing you a Karaoke Night starting at 6:00 PM! Sing your heart out and enjoy the spotlight!” Delicious food items from the Old Mill Inn will be available. Indulge in pretzel bites, perogies, chicken nuggets, wings, and more. Our craft vendors will again be set up on the grassy corner near Maple St.
August 1st: We welcome the band Longshot, who will be performing a fantastic mix of classic rock and modern country hits. The Hornell VFW will be on site, cooking all your summertime favorites. We will have a variety of craft vendors showcasing their unique handmade and other items. This night’s event is sponsored by District #6 Federal Credit Union.
August 8th: We are excited to showcase a talented classic rock band, Joker and Thieves featuring High School Students from Arkport. Our food vendor for the night is The Old Mill Inn, serving delicious items that are sure to please everyone. Our craft vendors are back with a variety of items. The Michelle Cornell Hulbert-Allstate Insurance Agency is sponsoring this night’s events.
August 15th: We could not be more excited to feature 78RPM, a phenomenal 16-piece big band that will transport you back in time with their classic big band sound. They will be taking the stage at 7:00 PM. Our food vendor for the night is The Old Mill Inn, serving a variety of mouth-watering dishes. We will have a variety of craft vendors showcasing their unique items.
August 22nd: Tonight, we bring you an evening of Acoustic Harmony! Enjoy live performances from Brian Friedland at 5:00 PM, Mike Chapman at 6:00 PM, and the Bard Brothers at 7:00 PM. The Old Mill Inn will be back serving your local favorite foods and the craft vendors will be joining us.
August 29th: Closing out our “Thursdays at the Square” series get ready to dance with Southbound, mixing the best of 80’s dance and a touch of country. Tonight, the Hornell VFW will be joining us again serving our summer favorites. This night’s event is sponsored by The Hornell Elks Lodge 364.
