Over the last week, this small town group of first responders has been, “in the thick of it.” From serious motor vehicle crashes to barn fires, the Angelica Fire and Rescue crew has been doing amazing work for the public. Here are a few reports from them along with pictures of recent emergencies:
“At 13:21 this afternoon we were dispatched to I-86 west bound near MM 107 in the Town of Angelica for a one vehicle roll over with entrapment. Firefighters removed the windshield to gain better access to the patient. The steering wheel was cut away and the patient was removed out the windshield opening. Further evaluation was done by the MTS crew in the ambulance but the patient refused transport to the hospital. Thanks to all that responded and worked the scene.”
“At 13:43 we were dispatched to County Rd 15 just north of the Old State Rd in the Town of Allen for a one vehicle MVA with injuries. Thankfully the patient was able to get out of the vehicle, climb to the road, and flag someone down to call 911. The patient was transported via MTS Ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital. Units stayed on scene to handle traffic control while the vehicle was pulled out. Also on scene assisting was Medic 700, AL-51, and the NYS Police.”
At 11:32 this morning we were dispatched to I-86 near the County Rd 2 overpass in the Town of Angelica for a 1 vehicle MVA. Upon our arrival we shut down the passing lane and slowed traffic, it was determined all occupants were ok and just needed a winch out.
“At 22:27 last night we were dispatched mutual aid with Belfast for a barn fire on State Route 305 in the Town of Belfast. Further updates confirmed a working fire and Belfast 5-0 also requested a full response from New Hudson. There was a good number of firefighters on scene and this allowed for crews to rotate working to extinguish the fire. An air truck from Cuba was requested to the scene as well as an engine to standby in New Hudson. Friendship was requested to standby in Angelica and responded with an engine. (Thank you for covering us.) Ambulance crews from Belfast and MTS stood by at the scene. It was a good effort by all on a cold winters night.”
