Hornell Police officers hoping to ‘grow’ money for the community

Author: Share:

As of March 1st Police Officers have once again become beardless. For the third year in a row Chief Murray allowed officers to grow beards in exchange for a donation to our 2021 Holiday Fundraiser. Officers donated $50 each to grow their beards from December 1st through February 28th. The officer’s donations were matched by the Maple City Police Club and totaled $1600.00. Officers then hand delivered the funds to ten different families in our city a week before christmas.

Families are picked each year by officer nomination. Some families have suffered a suddden loss of a loved one or a tragic event such as a house fire. Some families just need a little help putting a smile on the faces of their children on Christmas morning. It’s not a lot of money but its our way to help.

Some of the participants are shown in the picture, some were camera shy.
