Dresses ready for Project Prom Dress at a past event

ALFRED, NY, March 30, 2022 – Alfred State College (ASC) is excited to announce that Project Prom Dress Extravaganza 2022 will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9 in the Pioneer Center.

Project Prom Dress is a student-driven initiative and is the passion and philanthropy of the sorority sisters of Delta Chi Omega. Annually, individuals and local bridal shops donate new and gently used gowns. The sorority sisters have collected hundreds of gowns, shoes, and accessories.

“We’re excited to bring back the Extravaganza this year. After two long years of COVID restrictions, it will be a great for our campus and for nearby communities to come together to celebrate Prom season,” said Assistant Director of Greek Affairs Nejesea Brown. “Our goal is to continue the tradition of helping young students find the best dress for prom. We know it means a lot to local families.”

Each year, the event continues to grow. In 2019, Project Prom Dress gave away more than 100 gowns.

“I’m excited to bring the community back together this spring. The sisters of Delta Chi Omega have been a pleasure to work with this academic year and they are ecstatic to bring this program back.”

Alfred State would like to thank its continued donors as well as the individuals who have donated. The Delta Chi Omega sisters will also be collecting donations of gowns, shoes, and accessories on the day of the event.
