Homeowner grants, roadside cleanup, tire disposal, and various administrative changes on the agenda
BATH – A public hearing providing information about a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) on water and septic improvements in Steuben County will precede the county Legislature’s regular session set for Monday at 10 am, in the county Annex, East Morris Street.
The grant will provide well and septic improvements for qualifying property owners and will be open to the public with additional access located via Zoom. County legislators also are expected to waive the tip fees for the annual roadside cleanup, which offers municipalities an opportunity to schedule a week to haul roadside debris to the landfill free of charge. The popular event does not include household items and refuse.
Steuben lawmakers also will authorize a tire amnesty week, during which the cost of recycling unwanted tires will drop from $3 per tire to $1 per tire. The annual event is held to reduce the number of abandoned passenger vehicle tires and does not include commercial vehicle tires.
Other items before the board include: · Authorizing the Commissioner of Finance to create and fund a capital project for Department of Public Works equipment. · Authorizing a transfer from the Water Metering System Capital Project to the Jail Major Equipment Budget. · Allocating $200,000 from the Room Tax Reserve Fund to the Steuben County Conference & Visitors’ Bureau. · Authorizing an Inter-Municipal Agreement with the Town of Hornellsville. The board is scheduled to consider proposed changes to the county’s Administrative Code on Monday.
