Buckley won the Education Award in 2021
City of Hornell Mayor John Buckley was recently presented with a Leadership Award by The New York Conference of Mayors ‘in recognition of successfully completing Level Two of NYCOM’s Elected Officials Academy’.
The Elected Officials Academy (EOA) was established by NYCOM in 2019 and is a voluntary continuing education program established to facilitate and recognize the efforts of local elected officials to become more effective leaders.
“Mayor Buckley has shown great diligence and a strong desire to be a knowledgeable and responsive local leader,” said NYCOM Executive Director Peter A. Baynes. “The laws and duties pertaining to a mayor are complex and of tremendous importance, and we applaud Mayor Buckley for earning the honor to be part of the inaugural class of Elected Officials Academy graduates in the Leadership Program.”
“It is an honor to be recognized with this Leadership Award”, said Mayor Buckley. “NYCOM is such a great resource for elected officials and I am extremely thankful for the resources and educational opportunities they provide.”
Mayor Buckley was also awarded the Education Award in 2021 for competing Level One of the Elected Officials Academy. To receive the Leadership Award this year, Mayor Buckley was required to accumulate an additional 30 credits beyond the Level One Education Award (for an Academy total of 55 credits) as follows: 6 credits in Leadership Roles, 16 credits in Elective, Affiliate Courses or On-Site Training, 5 credits in Conference Attendance; and 3 credits in Advocacy.
The New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) is a statewide association representing New York’s cities and villages.
Congratulations Mayor Buckley!
