Hornell staff and student athletes support each other

“Hornell has the longstanding tradition of “Once a Raider, Always a Raider” and that starts the moment you take the field,” said varsity girls soccer Coach Mike Wilkinson. “We want to create a tradition of athletes supporting athletes.”

Coaches and athletes are rallying together this fall to support one another. Every sport will have a designated home competition where all other varsity teams will make every effort to attend.

“I think it’s important to support one another and go to more events,” said senior volleyball player McKenna Donlon. “There are many athletes and sports that go unseen, and having the athletes rally together to cheer each other on is what school spirit is all about.”

The first Raiders Rally event was the girls swim meet against Dansville on Sept. 8. The stands were filled with cheering fans, the cross country team, volleyball and the girls soccer team dressed to impress in their Hawaiian shirts, tie dye, shorts and goggles.

The Raiders hope the community will join them in rallying and cheering for all our athletes this school year!

Tuesday’s meet is a Steuben County League meet, but the once-a-season “all-teams” meet.

Hornell is hosting all SCL XC teams at our meet at North Hornell. We will have approximately 150 runners from 10 teams.

The Modified race will start at 5:00 PM.

The Boys varsity is scheduled for 5:20 PM with the Girls varsity starting at 5:30 PM.

It is also a “Raider Rally.” HHS Red Raider Rallies are competitions where the other Fall sports teams attend and support each other’s programs.

Fall Raiders Rally Schedule:

Cross Country: Tue., Oct. 4, 4:30 North Hornell v. Multiple Schools

Boys Soccer: Tue., Oct. 11, 6:30 Stadium v. Bath

Volleyball: Wed., Oct. 12, 6:30 A-Gym v C-S
