City planners and arts center staff wonder what’s next?

By Andrew Harris

When the Ponderosa restaurant folded, nearly twenty years ago, they gave the building to the City of Hornell. Since, a Main Street grant in 2014 created the Hornell Community Arts Center(HCAC) that we know today.

Like most community focused venues, the Covid-19 pandemic forced a shut down, a long waiting period, and now a slow-restart. City Planning director Heather Reynolds wondered what the city residents thought about the HCAC’s future. The folks who manage the HCAC are also interested in how the community views the current mission.

Should the HCAC increase the focus on youth activities/events or senior citizen services ? Should the building be kept in public hands or returned to private ownership?

This poll has a feature allowing respondents to “write-in” ideas and suggestions as well!!
