Steuben and Allegany County students compete “Jeopardy style”

It was a busy night throughout Steuben County for the All Stars. In the Large School Division, Corning Gold surpassed the Corning Black team 36 – 27. Haverling took on the Corning Black team as well tonight and came away with a win: Haverling 52 – Corning Black 43.
In Canisteo, Naples led the Medium Large School Division with an undefeated season and clinched the division tonight with a decisive 28 – 12 win over Addison. Canisteo-Greenwood won their match due to a forfeit by Campbell-Savona.
There was great competition in the Medium Small School Division atHammondsport this evening. Arkport defeated Jasper-Troupsburg in a tight back and forth match with Arkport eventually pulling ahead for a 41-40 win. Two undefeated teams on the season faced off in the second match. Alfred-Almond took down the formidable Hammondsport team with a strong 81 – 60 score.
In the Small School Division, Avoca dominated Prattsburgh with a 45 – 1 victory after which host Bradford defeated Canaseraga 36-32.
Between the matches at each school was the highly anticipated announcement and presentation of the William P. Lentz scholarships for 2023. This award goes to seniors whose achievements in academic excellence and in service to their school and community best exemplify the qualities and spirit to be found in an All Star.
