Two Arrested in Connection to Burglary and Vehicle Thefts in Corning
Corning, NY – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a burglary and two separate vehicle thefts that took place in mid-November in Corning.
The Corning City Police Department reports that Zoey M. Shomo, 26, hailing from Tioga, and Larry S. Kirk, 38, a resident of Addison, have been taken into custody in connection with these crimes.
The burglary transpired at a residence on East Market Street Extension in the City of Corning on November 10th. After a comprehensive investigation carried out by the Corning Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, a significant portion of the stolen items was successfully recovered.
On November 14th, law enforcement received a report regarding a stolen vehicle from the same residence in Corning. Following an extensive investigation, the vehicle was located on November 15th, abandoned on Hitton Road in the town of Caton. Zoey M. Shomo was operating the vehicle at the time, with Larry S. Kirk also present.
Zoey Shomo was subsequently arrested on November 15th and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the third degree. She was later released and issued an appearance ticket, mandating her presence at a later date at the Corning City Court.
On November 21st, another report of a stolen vehicle, this time from Lamphear Court in Corning, was made to the police. An investigation followed, leading to the discovery of the stolen vehicle. Larry S. Kirk was then arrested and charged with Grand Larceny in the fourth degree.
Both suspects are now facing legal proceedings in connection to these incidents.
