USDA grant and loan will fund new ambulance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today,Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development funding for Springwater-Wayland Emergency Medical Services in Steuben County. They will receive a $50,000 grant and a $162,000 loan to replace an ambulance.
“Emergency medical services are essential for saving lives in rural communities, and I am thrilled to announce this significant investment in the Springwater-Wayland Emergency Medical Services in Steuben County,” said Congressman Langworthy. “The $50,000 grant, accompanied by a $162,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program, will enable the crucial replacement of an ambulance, ensuring that our local emergency responders have the necessary resources to provide timely and effective care to residents in need.”
“Our agency is very happy to have been awarded this grant and loan package — it will allow us to continue to provide quality emergency services to our community,” said Sue Walker, President of the Board of Directors for Springwater-Wayland Emergency Medical Services. “As we are an all-volunteer organization, we rely on grant funding and generous community support to provide this service in northern Steuben County. The staff at Rural Development was very helpful in the application process, and we appreciate this opportunity.”
This funding is part of the USDA Rural Development – Community Facilities and Direct Loan and Grant Program. According to the USDA, this program aims to provide affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. An essential community facility is defined as a facility that provides an essential service to the local community for the orderly development of the community in a primarily rural area and does not include private, commercial, or business undertakings.
