Early Voting set to begin Saturday in Steuben County

BATH – With Early Voting in the Presidential Primary  slated to begin in Steuben County Saturday (Mar. 23) in advance of the Apr. 2 Election Day, county voters will use the new Clear Ballot voting machines to cast their paper ballot. 

The process for voters hasn’t changed,” said county Board of Elections Commissioners Veronica Olin (R) and Colleen Hauryski (D) in a joint statement. “The only change is the machine they will cast their ballot on.”

New ADA compliant ballot marking machines will also be available at every poll site in Steuben, the commissioners said.  

To be eligible to vote on Primary Election Day or Early Voting, a new voter must be registered in either the Democratic or Republican parties by Saturday (March 23).

Early Voting Information:
   Ø  Early in-person voting for the Democratic and Republican Presidential Primary is scheduled for eight
              days from Saturday (Mar. 23) through March 30.

Ø  Early Voting locations in the county will be at the Hornell Community Arts Center, 56 Broadway, Hornell, the Southeast Steuben County Library, 300 Civic Center Plaza, Corning, and at the Steuben County Annex, 20 East Morris St., Bath.

Ø  Early voting hours are from 9 am-6 pm at all three locations in the county.   Hours are extended until 8 pm on Tuesday and Thursday at the Bath Annex location only, the commissioners said.

Ø  Early Voting hours have been extended by one hour each day of early voting because there will be no early voting on Easter Sunday (March 31).  This was a state-wide change for this election only, according to officials.


Election Day (Apr. 2) Presidential Primary
 Voting on Election Day April 2, for the Democratic and Republican Presidential Primary is at designated polling sites from 6 am to 9 pm.  Those who register on March 23, the first day of early voting, must vote by affidavit ballot.
Ballot requests after the March 23 deadline must be done in-person or by designating someone to deliver the  application to the county board of elections in person and receive the ballot. 

General Voter Information:
The Primary Election for registered Democratic and Republican voters.  All registered voters are eligible to vote in the General Election in November.  
Voters who were already registered and wanted to change their party enrollment must have done so by the Feb. 14 deadline.
