STEUBEN COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES AND THE STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HAS ISSUED A “TRAVEL ADVISORY” FOR THIS EVENING INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

FREEZING RAIN, SLEET AND SNOW HAS MADE DRIVING CONDITIONS DIFFICULT THIS AFTERNOON. STEADIER SNOW IS ALREADY OCCURING AND WILL CONTINUE INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.  STEADY SNOWFALL ALONG WITH THIS MORNING’S ICING WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DURING THURSDAY EVENING INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

BASED UPON THE FORECAST FOR HEAVY SNOW OVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING, THE STEUBEN COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES & THE STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECOMMENDS THE FOLLOWING TRAVEL ADVISORY.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRAVEL PLEASE STAY HOME.  IF YOU MUST TRAVEL MOTORISTS ARE RECOMMENDED TO USE EXTREME CAUTION.  USE CAUTION ON HIGHER ELEVATED HIGHWAYS AND BRIDGES.  CALL AHEAD AND MAKE SURE YOUR DESTINATION IS OPEN IN THE MORNING BEFORE TRAVELING.

THIS IS NOT A TRAVEL BAN.  THIS TRAVEL ADVISORY WILL ALLOW PLOW CREWS TIME TO SAND AND CLEAR ROADS AND ALLOW BETTER ACCESS FOR MORNING COMMUTERS.

REMEMBER, DIAL 911 FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY.   FOR STATEWIDE TRAVEL CONDITIONS CALL 511, OR VISIT HTTP://WWW.511NY.ORG/
