HORNELL — The Hornell girls’ basketball team has won four-of-five including a dominating 78-35 win over Le Roy Tuesday night at home as part of the senior night celebration.

Hornell coach Brian Dyring has talked about the senior leadership all season, but after the game, he had a new senior to focus on, Madison Lyng.

“Madison Lyng never played basketball outside of one year of modified,” Dyring said. “She’s a senior and made her varsity debut and had two points and a steal!”

The other seniors who were honored were Ayla Prior, Tayghan Doorley, Jane Spitulnik, Lilly Adams and Juliet Marino.

“It was a great night for the seniors,” Dyring said. “Before the game I took them aside in the locker room and expressed our appreciation for them as a group. Not only as basketball players, but as young adults … this is really a special group.”

Hornell improved to 13-5 with the win.

The Red Raiders were led by Doorley and Maddie Moore who each scored 17 while Lillian Hoyt had 15 points.
