Downtown business with an 86 year history has partnered with Hornell’s new source for local news

By Andrew Harris

In 1936, New York State Highway employees founded what is today the District 6 Federal Credit Union. This institution pre-dates World War II and is still a fixture in downtown Hornell today at 107 Broadway.

Everyone at the Hornell Sun is thrilled to inform our readers that District 6 has become a major sponsor of this publication. When we say ‘major,’ it means that District 6 will be sponsoring our news content and our local sports coverage. In a town like Hornell, the community support of student athletes is tremendous and District 6 is 100% behind our goal to take that support to a higher level.

Being around Hornell for nine decades, District 6 members have seen the demise of local news first hand. The daily paper, once the lifeblood of community information, has been changed forever by both technology and capitalism. Stories about great police work, big news at St. James, and the news from City Hall are coming back and we thank sponsors like District 6 for investing in our work.

Today, District 6 is a full service credit union, offering the latest options like online banking, and still providing traditional products like Christmas Club accounts. Visit them online for full list of services, District6FCU.com

A great reason to join District 6 is lower interest rates and lower fees. A better reason to join District 6 is because they are promoting Hornell by helping us resurrect the local news. They are investing in community information and the communities future, specifically in the leaders of tomorrow. District 6 shares our goal of promoting the accomplishments of students athletes, along with coaches and schools.

We thank District 6 for the faith in our effort and hope our readers will consider supporting District 6 in kind. Visit them online to learn more and follow them on Facebook today!

Call them today 607-324-8384, they are open from 7:30-4:00 Monday thru Friday.
