County Chairman Scott Van Etten issues proclamation

BATH – Steuben County Legislature Chairman Scott Van Etten, R-Caton has proclaimed the week of May 6- 12 as National Nurses Week in Steuben.

In the proclamation, Van Etten noted thousands of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and licensed practical nurses from Steuben County, and 3.4 million registered nurses nationally, are not only the cornerstone of patient care, but are also leaders in improving the quality of care and seeking ways to continue increasing access to care.

“Those professionals are responding with tireless dedication, compassion and care to the needs of many during the current COVID-19 health crisis,” Van Etten said. “I urge all residents of Steuben County to help celebrate and recognize our nurses as an expression of our gratitude for all they do to keep us healthy and safe.”

The week ends on the 202nd anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, a social reformer and founder of modern nursing.
