A felony charge has been leveled following the larceny of a vehicle in the Village of Bath reported June 30, 2022. State Police say they arrested Yosef Simon-Page, 38 of Corning for third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony count. Simon-Page will answer the charge at a later date.

Four name-protected teenagers from Bath face felony counts stemming from an incident in the Town of Bath July 4, 2022. Each was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. The suspects are ages 12, 14 and 17. A day later, three more teens were also charged with felony criminal mischief. Judicial action is pending.


A Painted Post woman will be sentenced in Steuben County court today. Tonya Smith was convicted of manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Smith was driving on State Route 415 in the Town of Bath when she struck 66-year-old Donald Masti, who was attempting to cross the road. Masti, who was retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bath, suffered extensive trauma and was pronounced dead at Ira Davenport Hospital. Troopers alleged at the time that Smith was drunk behind the wheel with a blood alcohol content greater than .18%. The deadly incident happened in 2019.
