Aliquippa, Beaver County, PA – A Pennsylvania State Trooper was shot while assisting at a disturbance call at the Franklin Mini-Mart in Aliquippa shortly after midnight on Friday July 29th. The Trooper, whose name has not yet been released, and another Trooper entered the store to investigate the disturbance. Upon entering, the two Troopers encountered an armed male suspect. The male fired a shot that struck the Trooper in the leg. The other Trooper and store patrons were able to take the suspect into custody.
The wounded Trooper was flown from the scene via medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. The other Trooper was taken to a local hospital.
A child endangerment complaint led to 18 counts being leveled against a Belfast resident. State Police say they arrested Nahvonna N. Roat. Troopers charged the 25-year-old with endangering the welfare of a child, 8 counts of neglect of an impounded animal and another 8 counts of torture/injuring or not feeding an animal. Court action is pending. Police said the incident occurred in the Town of Belfast and was reported July 21, 2022.
During a traffic stop in the Town of Avoca, State Police arrested a male, 31, of Bath. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and felony having a blood alcohol content above .08%. The accused will appear in court at a later date.
Pennsylvania State Police filed a first-class summons and criminal complaint against a man from Genesee, PA. He was charged with DUI with a blood alcohol content above .16%, DUI-unsafe driving, careless driving and restrictions on alcoholic beverages. A preliminary hearing in District Court is scheduled for September 25 at 1:15 p.m.
Coudersport-based Troopers filed a criminal complaint against Candia Lloyd Baxter, 74, of Bath. She was charged with two counts of misdemeanor defiant trespass and two summary offenses of defiant trespass stemming from a complaint July 22 in Genesee Township. Magisterial District Judge Kari A. McCleaft set a preliminary hearing for August 23, 2022.
