18th Annual St. James Foundation Golf Tournament Raises $31,000

Monday, August 1st, 2022, Hornell, NY… The 18th annual St. James Foundation golf tournament raised $31,000 at the Friday, July 15th event at Twin Hickory Golf Club in Hornell. Twenty-four teams and over sixty sponsors participated in this year’s tournament as well as twenty-five volunteers from the hospital and community.

“We were happy to have another successful year at our tournament,” said Lisa Schwartz, St. James Foundation chair. “The weather was perfect for golf, camaraderie, and raising funds.”

“The success of the tournament is truly a testament to the generosity of our community members, healthcare partners, and vendors,” said Wendy Disbrow, St. James Hospital CEO. “We are so pleased everyone enjoyed the day in support of our patients.”

Team Stroebel’s (Don Fortuna, Kevin Conklin, Missy Pomeroy, and Jason Lockwood) won the event with a score of 56. Team TTA (Mike Smith, Mike Nisbet, Dan Schwartz, and Rich Argentieri) came in second with a score of 59. On hole number four, Greg Torrey sunk a hole-in-one and won a year’s supply of Bridgestone balls. Women’s longest drive was won by Mary McInerney and Kevin Conklin took men’s longest drive. Men’s closest to the pin was won by Rob Kramer and Mary McInerney took women’s closest to the pin.

Elderwood of Hornell again generously provided the title sponsorship. Other major support came from Razak Associates for our Club Social Sponsor and Wilkins RV as the Carts Sponsor. Gold sponsors included Dr. Theodor Kaufman, Drs. Izzy and Uzma Mehr, Simmons Rockwell, and Vitality by Liv. Silver sponsors included Crosby-Brownlie, Deputies Association of Steuben County, Wendy Disbrow, Johnson Controls, LaBella, Seven Mountains Media, and Wegmans. Hole-In-One sponsor was provided by the St. James Medical Staff and the Contest Sponsor was provided by Burke Group. Lunch was provided by Sodexo and John Carbone/The Main Place donated breakfast.
