18 year old arrested for “strong-arm robbery” of Erwin NY motel

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on July 30, 2022, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Morgan T. Abeel, age 18, of North Urbana Road, Urbana, New York, following an investigation of a reported assault and strong-arm robbery at a motel in the Town of Erwin, New York.   

It is alleged that Mr. Abeel intentionally caused injury to another person while forcibly stealing greater than $1,000 from that person.  Mr. Abeel was charged with Assault in the Third Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, a class C Felony and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E Felony. 

Mr. Abeel, was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $100 bail. Sheriff Allard thanks the Painted Post Police Department for their assistance in this case.
