The night sure felt like a sectional final as two of the top Class B1 teams took to the turf at Hornell High School tuesday evening.
For the first 10 minutes it appeared the Red Raiders were about to talley up 100 shots on goal. As the back of the net seemed to elude the Red Raiders during their season opener it continued against Livonia.
With zero’s on the score board to end the first half both teams showed their strength as to why being hailed two of the tops teams was not a gimmick.
The scoreless tie ended early in the second half as the Bulldogs of livonia fired a shot from about 18 yards out the just passed the out reach finger tips of Gates Miller.
Hornell falls to 1-1-0 on the season and will head up route 86 to Olean thursday afternoon for the opening round against Pioneer at 5:15.
Livonia improves to 2-0 and will take to the home field Friday as they host Letchworth/Warsaw.
