Mountain Rose Farm also offers unique overnight accommodations

A scenic 10-minute drive from the Hammondsport Village Square over Mt. Washington will take you to Mountain Rose Farm and the chance to experience a bit of authentic country living without having to do all the farm chores yourself. Owned by Emily Gingerich and Rachel Beiler, sisters who have farming in their blood, this new agritourism business offers daily guided horseback rides on over 2-miles of trails around the farm and through fields and forest.

These one-hour trail rides on the 92-acre property cater to all levels of riders from folks who’ve never been in a saddle to experienced equestrians. With carefully selected horses to assure the most enjoyable ride, there’s no better way to tap into the tranquility and peacefulness of country living. Intimate private rides are available for up to four people ages eight and older. Grab your family or closest friends and spend a little time on horseback for an unforgettable glimpse of the region.

Mountain Rose Farm also has two cottages available for seasonal short-term rental. The Studio Loft and the Cottage. Sit on the porch with a cup of coffee. Enjoy the gregarious nature of Lucas, a friendly goat who is the unofficial greeter on the farm. Watch farm cats play or laze in the sun. Fish in the pond for bass or bluegill (catch and release only) or settle down on the bench by the water’s edge and take in the luxurious sounds of nature.

Away from the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic, you might hear the occasional vehicle taking a shortcut up over the hill, but what you’ll notice quite quickly is the lack of noise you’re often surrounded by in everyday life. Mountain Rose Farm offers guests a chance to know what country quiet is like.
