STORY AND PHOTOS By STEVE HARRISON

On one of the nicest evening of this early fall the Lady Raiders played host to the Livonia Bulldogs.

What started out as your typical Hornell-Livonia game as each defense showed it was going to take something special to get past the D-Line.

With outstanding midfield play the Bulldogs found the scoring volume first as they struck from 35 yards out. The ball seemed to float in the air for an hour and when it finally hit the turf the ball took funny bounce that found its way over the head of HHS goalie Alexis Patrick.

The Livonia lead didnt last long as the third leading scorer in section five was able to work her way through three defenders. She got a toe on the ball to put it past the Bulldog keeper, to tying the game at one-one.

In the second half Hornell controlled the ball in the middle of the field giving the strikers several chances to take the lead. With 15 minutes remaining Ireland Harrison was able to drive the ball to the back of the net for a 2-1 lead.

Hornell defense anchored by senior Maddy Moore was able to keep Livonia from getting a clean shot for the last 15 minutes to secure the win for the lady Raiders.  Hornell improves to 4-1 on the season and will take to the friendly confines of Maple City Park on Wednesday for another tough Livingston county matchup with the Dansville Mustangs.  Livonia falls to 2-2 on the early season and will host Warsaw on Wednesday.
