If there was any doubt that Hornell Red Raiders boys’ soccer team was a #1 seed, those doubts were put to rest on Saturday night as they defeated Batavia, 11-1.

Hornell (14-1) will continue the quest to defend the Section V championship as they take on Greece Olympia on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Geneseo.

Earning the No. 1 seed was not easy as the Red Raiders lost several key players last year to graduation. Hornell just reloaded with a strong returning crew and newcomers from the JV program.

Jack Emo was able to find the back of the net two times during the contest Saturday evening under the amazing weather for the end of October.  Emo continues to build upon his scoring feast upon opposing defenses throughout the LCAA and Section V.  Jack currently is in the top 5 in scoring for Section V with 24 goals and 8 assist.

Hornell’s scoring was spread out over the evening as Wyatt Evingham also had 2 goals in the opening game for the Red Raiders. Rounding out the scoring for the Red Raiders with a goal each were P.J. Picco, Shawn Rose, JV call up DeMayne Dixon, Liam Khork, Mason Terwilliger and Wyatt Argentieri.
