Watch the recent debate between the candidates for the 23rd Congressional seat

The question of the week asked readers to preview their votes for the next US Congressman from the 23rd District, a newly drawn area which covers much of Western New York. In an area that is increasingly Republican-dominant, the race is always uphill for Democratic candidates. Hornell, like Wellsville, was once a bastian of Democratic support until that support began to erode at the turn of the millenium.
Della Pia is a strong candidate. A retired Air Force officer and pilot, Max is no shrinking violet and performed rather well in last weeks debate against Langworthy. The support of the new portions of the 23rd district in Erie County could make this race closer than this small sample suggests.
