State Police Reports: Manslaughter arrest in 2021 fatal crash

DWI, grand larceny, and felony escape from police

An arrest has been made stemming from a fatal crash in the Town of Burns at 1:18 a.m. on January 5, 2021. Troopers say they have charged Dominick L. Shannon, 63, of Batavia. He was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and having a blood alcohol content greater than .08%. According to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department, Shannon is being held in jail in Belmont and no bail has been set.

On November 13, 2022, Troopers out of SP Clarence arrested a male, 28 of Wellsville, NY for driving while intoxicated and speeding. Troopers stopped the accused on Transit Road in the town of Clarence for allegedly speeding and driving over the center line. He was placed under arrest after failing standard field sobriety tests. He was transported to SP Clarence for processing. The man recorded a .15% BAC, according to police. He was issued traffic tickets returnable to the town of Clarence for December 2022.

After investigating a reported larceny from a building in Scio on November 1st, Troopers arrested a 35-year-old Scio resident for petit larceny. A court appearance is pending.

State Police investigating a complaint in the Town of Allen, arrested a male, age unknown, of Elmira and charged him with aggravated harassment for allegedly communicating a threat. He was issued an appearance ticket for court.

Amity-based state police arrested Joseph R. Geertgens, 38, of Endicott. Following an incident in the Town of Amity on November 7th, he was charged with felony escape. He was taken into custody November 14th in the City of Rochester. Court action is pending.

State Troopers based in Bath report the arrest of James R. Lisefski, 42, of Prattsburgh. He was charged with felony grand larceny for property valued in excess of $1,000. The incident occurred in the Town of Bath. He was initially detained.

Investigating an incident in Prattsburgh, state police arrested a female, 35, of Corning for unauthorized use of a vehicle. A court appearance ticket was issued.

State Police arrested Robert D. Finch, 37, of Hornell. He was charged with felony first-degree sexual abuse involving forcible compulsion. The incident was reported August 19th in the Town of Erwin.

Coudersport-based state police issued a non-traffic citation to a 35-year-old Wellsville man. He was charged with writing bad checks in Genesee Township. Court action is pending.
