The Florida Republican tops former President Trump by 16%
By Andrew Harris
Our weekly poll has concluded with interesting results. Not only has Ron DeSantis emerged as a Republican frontrunner for the Whitehouse in 2024 nationally, but also in Steuben county.
The sample size was small but the results echoed a similar national poll. The conservative standard bearer, The National Review, recently reported that Ron Desantis was a clear favorite over the former President. From the National Review:
“According to the survey of 413 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, 42 percent want DeSantis to be the party’s nominee two years from now, while 35 percent would prefer former president Donald Trump. It was conducted in the immediate aftermath of Tuesday’s disappointing returns for the GOP.”
That poll was conducted before former President Trump announced that he will be seeking re-election in 2024, the first Republican candidate to do so.
Also of interest in this sample of public opinion is the 18% who placed a vote for an unknown candidate. That group of votes didn’t think DeSantis, Trump, Glenn Youngkin, or former Vice President Mike Pence would be the Republican nominee.
We will run this poll more as the race for the White House in 2024 progresses and opinions shift.
Thank you for voting! Stay tuned for a new poll out every Monday!
