Reusable bags only at the retail giant
Walmart stores in New York will drop paper bags between January 18 and January 23, 2023. Walmart in Olean posted the following note on Facebook – “Hey New York…paper shopping bags are going away on January 18th.” The Olean store added “a large variety of reusable bags will be available for purchase in store.”
No information is available on the policy at the Hornell Walmart. Some estimate that Walmart hands out more than 20 billion plastic bags yearly. According to WETM-TV, signs at the Horseheads and Painted Post Walmart locations announced that all New York Stores will stop providing paper bags at checkout on January 18, 2023.
