Police have confirmed to the Sun the man wanted from an incident on Tuesday night which caused a shelter-in-place for residents of Elm Valley is in custody.

After 1 p.m., the man was taken into custody and police say he is at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.

Police will be releasing more information to the Sun today and confirmed the capture so we could let our readers, residents and the school districts know.

Our initial reporting:

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday night, state police and Allegany County Sheriff Deputies looked for a suspect wanted on Route 417 in Elm Valley.

The suspect allegedly had a weapon, but police called it an “isolated incident.”

However, there was a shelter in place for residents in the area and they were told to keep their homes locked.

Police said the search ended around 1:30 but will resume this morning.

There will be State Police drones and officers. There was a possible cell phone ping between 417 in Elm Valley and Trapping Brook Road in Wellsville, near South Hill.

The Sun was told the scene was not a safe place to be when a reporter stopped to get photos and information.

As of 930 a.m., law enforcement have lifted the shelter in place order and continue to search for the suspect with the use of drones from the New York State Police.

On Wednesday, troopers used drones.

This morning, Andover Central School sent this text to parents:
