CANISTEO – Both Campbell-Savona and Canisteo-Greenwood would trade a big run through the first half of play to open the night on Thursday in the Canisteo Valley. As a result, it would create some even playing ground for the foes to spar over in the remaining 16 minutes of time.

In the end, the host Redskins would make sure they had the upper hand when it was all said and done, as they squeezed their way past the Panthers to claim a 52-48 home win.

The Redskins started off red hot on both ends of the floor, as the defense held the Panthers in check to their lowest frame of the night while in transition, the offense produced a big 15-6 run headlined by nine first quarter points off the hand of Carson Chaffee.

Campbell-Savona would shake it off later on, as they reversed action themselves and closed out the opening half on the strongest of notes, capitalizing on a 16-8 run themselves that was built through a balanced attack, with four different scorers all having a hand in furthering the cause.

With each foe exchanging a big first half run, it would create level playing ground for the second half. A final 16 minute session where the Redskins would find just enough of an opening to wiggle free through the third quarter, and down the homestretch, as they secured the win on their home floor to rebound off of Monday’s loss at Hornell.

Leading the Redskins was Thomas Sirianni, who sank three of the team’s four three-pointers on his way towards a game-high 16-point performance. Not far behind was Chaffee, as he chipped in 15 points in all. Cole Chaffee had nine points.

On the other side, the Panthers were led by Ryan and Ethan Ribble, each scoring 11 team-high points.

Canisteo-Greenwood is now off until they return to their home floor once more on Monday, as they host the undefeated Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines in a 7:15 p.m. tip-off.
