On January 24, 2023, at approximately 11:23 p.m. State Police in Bath responded to a 1 person – 1 vehicle fatal accident on St-Rte 415 in the town of Campbell. The deceased operator, identified as, Shane Oakley, age 42, from Bath was killed when the vehicle he was driving westbound on St-Rte 415, for an unknown reason, left the south shoulder of the roadway and struck several trees.
The State Police were assisted by the Campbell – Savona Fire Department.
The investigation is continuing.

The New York State Police out of the Horseheads Barracks arrested Chevis G. Sargent, age 26, from Addison, NY for Rape 1st, Degree, a Class B Felony, after an investigation into a sexual assault which occurred in the town of Horseheads on January 23, 2023.
Sargent was arraigned in the Town of Horseheads Court where he was remanded to the Chemung County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond pending further court proceedings.
