Ferd R. Sekoll, 89, Greenwood

Ferd R. Sekoll, 89, passed away on Thursday (February 9, 2023) at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. following a brief illness.

Ferd was born on June 14, 1933 on Burnt Hill in Willing to John H. and Frances E. (Barheigt) Sekoll. He attended Immaculate Conception School in Wellsville. On April 27, 1957 in Immaculate Conception Church he married June L. Petterson, who predeceased him on July 31, 1996.

Ferd owned and operated the Sekoll Dairy Farm on Greenwood Hill for 65 years. He previously was a crane operator for Air-Preheater Company in Wellsville.

Ferd is survived by seven children, Ferd “Spike” Sekoll, II of Wellsville, Frank “Bucky” (Michelle) Sekoll of Greenwood, Sandra (Robert) Arsenault of Vineland, N.J., Sarah (Frank) Skorupsky of Millsboro, Del., Anna (Salvatore) Wachter of Hornell, Marietta (Gregory) Goodliff of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Peter (Kimberly) Sekoll of Hornell; one sister, Ada Cavangna of Shongo; 14 grandchildren, Kaylene (Kemar) Sekoll, Jessica Arsenault, Rebecca (Trong Nguyen) Arsenault, Alexander Arsenault, Samanatha (Mike) Seltzberg, Joseph Furner-Starrett, John Furner, Justin Wachter, Matthew Wachter, Julie (Caleb Chin) Goodliff, Lyle Goodliff, Nichole Sekoll, Brenden Bebout and Cameron Bebout; six great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Payton, Helen, Kianna, Heidi and Norma Jean; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by four brothers, John Sekoll, Richard Sekoll, Edward Sekoll and Carlton Sekoll and one sister, Margaret Maxell.

Ferd was an avid antiquer and loved a good auction. He loved the life on the farm with all of its seasons. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years he preferred to sit by the pond taking in the many sights and sounds of nature.

Ferd cherished his family, especially the grandchildren. There were many impromptu picnics with lots of food. He loved to cook and enjoyed eating. He would try just about anything.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday (February 14) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover. Burial will take place in the Sekoll Family Cemetery on the property of the Sekoll Dairy Farm. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.
