Academic All-Stars: Alfred-Almond, Addison, Canaseraga teams prevail

Students compete in “Jeopardy-style” scholastic competition

Three divisions of Academic All Stars faced off tonight around Steuben County.  In the Medium Small School Division,  Alfred-Almond, with coach Steve Donlon, topped a new team from Jasper-Troupsburg under coach Tyler Avnet with a score of 48-30.  Jordan Kramer’s Arkport team fell to the strong Hammondsport team under new coach, Anne Stone, 36-18.  

The Medium Large School Division took place in Naples this evening and had surprisingly low scores for such strong teams.  Addison outscored Campbell-Savona with a score of 19-1 and powerhouse Naples surpassed Canisteo-Greenwood by 5 points with a score of 10-5.  

First match of the night in the Small School Division pitted Canaseraga against Prattsburgh.  Canaseraga prevailed with a close score of 29-28. In the second match, Avoca came away with the win over Bradford, 36-8.  

Next week the schools will be closed for Presidents’ Day.  February 27th will be a full night of All Stars with matches in Corning, Canisteo, Arkport, and Avoca.  Come cheer your teams on and test your mettle against those clever high school All Stars!
