Hornell Indoor Track and Field Section V Championships

The Raiders competed for the A3 title at Nazareth College

Hornell’s Elaina Flaitz was the Girls Section V, Class A3 High Jump champion with a leap of 5-0. She also finished 3rd in the 55m Hurdles (9.63), pacing the Lady Raiders to an 8th-place team finish at the Section V, Class A3 Championships at Nazareth College.

Brennan DeLany placed 2nd in the Pole Vault and 3rd in the Triple Jump (42-11.5), leading the way on the boys’ side for an 11th-place team finish.

8th grader, Elisa Bodin placed 2nd in the 3000m run (11:46.33), and Sophomore, Ashton Hooker finished 4th in the 600m run (1:38.36) while 8th grader Silvia Carretto took 6th in the girls’ 600m run ((1:56.0).

The girls’ 4 x 200m relay team of (Marianne Colson, Riley Harwood, Carretto, and Flaitz took 2nd, and the 4 x 400m relay of Colson, Harwood, Carretto, and Bodin placed 6th (4:49.48).

The boys’ 4 x 200m relay of Jacob Phillips, Nathan Wise, Ramsey Dean-Prince, and Hooker finished 10th (1:48.37), and the 4 x400m relay of Ayden Travis, Hooker, Wise, and Phillips came in 5th (4:17.24).

Other top ten finishes for the Red Raiders included:

Delaney Meehan: 7th in the Weight Throw (27-3.75).

Jacob Phillips: 7th in the Triple Jump (37-10.25).

Riley Harwood: 9th in the 55m dash (8.08).

Elaina Flaitz (High Jump and 55m Hurdles), Brennan DeLany (Triple Jump, 55m Hurdles, and Pole Vault), and Elisa Bodin (3000m run) will move on to compete at the Section V State Qualifier Meet at Nazareth College on Thursday. The top two finishers in each event will represent Section V at the NYSPHAA Track and Field Championships at Staten Island’s Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on March 4th.
