Top transportation brass in the nation visit Alstom in Hornell

One of the top brass in the nation, U.S. Transportation Under Secretary Carlos Monje Jr. visited Alstom in Hornell today.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, who was also in Hornell, said the Biden administration needs to see firsthand how Southern Tier workers are primed to build the future of American trains.

Schumer explain how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Law he led to passage made the largest investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak, with over $66 billion investment in rail.

Schumer also successfully fought to include in the final legislation critical new Buy America requirements, which can significantly benefit domestic manufacturers like Alstom.

Schumer said new “Buy America” requirements he fought for can be a huge  boon For Alstom’s Hornell facility, as one of the only domestic rail car manufacturers.

Schumer was joined by Monje Jr., Michael Keroulle, Alstom President & CEO Americas, Scott Sherin, Alstom Chief Commercial Officer U.S., Victor Ionescu Hornell Site Managing Director, George Kels, International Association of Machinists Local 2741 President, Deputy Mayor City of Hornell Jessica Cleveland, President of the Hornell Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of the City of Hornell Industrial Development Agency Michael Nisbet and others.
