Sutfin is a U.S Veteran and 57 year resident of the 1st Ward

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of 1st Ward Alderman in the City of Hornell. I’m Dave Sutfin, and I have been a resident of Hornell for my entire life. I have lived in the 1st Ward for over 57 years and raised my family here with my wife, Arlene. Our three daughters are proud of their Hornell heritage, just like I am.

I am a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and was employed by Agway Petroleum and Suburban Propane until my retirement in 2017.  In addition to my professional experience, I am actively involved in my community as a board member and treasurer for Shooters Committee on Political Education (SCOPE). Through SCOPE, I have actively promoted voter registration and political awareness.

After several years of encouraging others to participate in our electoral process, I felt that running for 1st Ward Alderman seemed to be the next logical step. Having experienced how great the Hornell community is to live and raise a family, I hope to give back and continue to build a strong and vibrant Hornell.

I am deeply invested in the City of Hornell and its residents. I will be a highly-engaged and active voice for constituents. I plan to work closely with City officials, department heads and City Hall, and most importantly, the residents of the 1st Ward.

I am committed to serving the residents of the 1st Ward and the City of Hornell to the best of my ability. I hope to earn your vote to be your voice on the Common Council on November 7, 2023.
