Steuben County Sheriff Deputy injured after arresting Bath man for theft, assault, and drugs

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on April 9, 2023, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brian L. Rosell, age 49, of SR 415, Bath, New York, following an investigation of a reported larceny in the Town of Bath. It is alleged that Mr. Rosell stole property in the Town of Bath. It is further alleged that when advised he was under arrest, Mr. Rosell physically resisted his lawful arrest, causing injury to a deputy. It is also alleged that Mr. Rosell did introduce suspected methamphetamine into the Steuben County Jail. Mr. Rosell was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a class D Felony, Introducing Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a class E Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Resisting Arrest and Petit Larceny. Mr. Rosell was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail. The injured deputy was treated and released at a local medical facility
