WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) voted to pass H.R. 1615, the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act, and H.R. 1640, the Save Our Gas Stoves Act.

“When Winter Storm Elliott hit Western New York last year, causing blackouts and tragically taking the lives of 40 people, many of my constituents had to rely on their gas stoves for survival,” said Congressman Langworthy. “The legislation to end the use of gas appliances signed by Governor Kathy Hochul and passed by New York Democrats is just a preview of the New Green Deal policies that the unelected bureaucrats in the Biden Administration want to force on the American people. I’m proud to stand with my colleagues in the House to protect Americans’ access to safe, affordable, and reliable energy.”

Congressman Langworthy is a cosponsor of the Save Our Gas Stoves Act, which would prohibit the Department of Energy (DOE) from prescribing energy conservation standards that would effectively ban gas stoves or ovens. It would also prohibit DOE from carrying out its proposed rule, issued on February 1, 2023, pertaining to gas stove energy efficiency standards.

The Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act would prohibit the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from using federal funds to ban gas stoves or impose a safety standard that would effectively ban or substantially increase the average price of gas stoves.

Congressman Nick Langworthy represents the 23rd Congressional District of New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties and parts of Erie County. Visit langworthy.house.gov.
