2022 Cayuco, a Prosecco-style Cayuga White

The wine is crafted using a delicious hybrid white wine varietal grape called Cayuga and is designed to be sparkling and dry.
The winery describes the wine as a “…bright and bubbly white wine, consisting primarily of Cayuga White, is perfect for a warm evening on the dock or porch and for an afternoon picnic lunch.” with notes of…”green apple, grapefruit, and Meyer lemon” perfect to be enjoyed with “… summer seafood such as oysters or sushi, smoked cheese, and risotto and pastas”.
How was the new wine named? The vineyard shares “Besides combining the words “Cayuga” and “Prosecco” for the name, the word ‘Cayuco’ means ‘little canoe’ in Spanish. Since one of the meanings of the word ‘Keuka’ is thought to be ‘canoe landing’, we thought ‘Cayuco’ an apt name. “
