WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) is pleased to announce four Assistance to Firefighters Grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for first responders in Erie, Cattaraugus, and Chemung counties totaling more than $612,000.

“I’m pleased to announce several FEMA grants to bolster our local firefighting operations and enhance safety measures,” said Rep. Langworthy. “These grants will provide crucial resources for advanced equipment, essential training programs, and strengthening our first responders’ ability to respond effectively to emergencies. We must support local first responders who stand ready to serve when we need them the most, especially in times of crisis.”

In Erie County, Clarence Fire District No. 1 will receive a grant of $233,497.14, and the Newstead Fire Company will receive a grant of $232,718.09.

In Cattaraugus County, Randolph Regional EMS will receive a grant of $98,955.23.

In Chemung County, Van Etten Community Fire Rescue will receive a grant of $47,153.33.

According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.
