LCAA’S FINEST

GREIGSVILLE – Never say die. Never quit. No matter what.

That’s the attitude visiting Perry brought with them Friday night to the York gymnasium after they fell behind two sets to none in LCAA D-III volleyball action.

Losing the first two sets 22-25 and 17-25, the Lady Yellowjackets rallied to win the next three – 25-14, 25-18, and 15-11 – as they pulled off the miracle comeback.

Nellie Koronas had a monster game as she led Perry serving six aces while scoring 18 additional service points. Koronas also added 32 assists with eight digs, four kills and one block.

Jaelyn Morris recorded a triple-double with 14 service points, 11 kills, 10 digs, and three aces while sister Jessah Morris posted 20 service points with nine kills and three blocks as Perry improved to 7-6 on the season.

For York, Paola Santiago paced the Knights with 24 digs to go with four aces, two kills and two assists.

Only an eighth-grader, Bailey Orman had a solid game with seven digs, six kills and two aces.

York fell to 8-5 overall.

GIRLS SOCCER

Mount Morris 2, Perry 1

Shaniese Brown scored the game-winner 1:15 into the second OT as M-M nipped Perry in LCAA D-III action Friday.

Brown’s goal came off a thru ball from Adrianan Mann.

Brown opened the scoring for M-M with a goal with 14 minutes left off another Mann assist.

But just 24 seconds later, Perry’s Courtney Westfall tied the game with a long shot from 25 yards out.

The victory gave M-M their fifth win of the year.

“I am so proud of the performance of the girls tonight,” M-M head coach Matt James said. “The win was a total team effort. There was no doubt the passion these girls had tonight. I am so proud of these girls and the work they have put in this season.”
