DANSVILLE – After a slow first half, the Dansville girls put their foot on the gas and scored three goals within the first eight minutes of the second half as the fourth-seeded Lady Mustangs defeated No. 13 Waterloo by a 5-1 count in Section V Class B first round action Tuesday.
Aynsley Belcher led the way for Dansville with two goals while Kali Meyer scored once and also assisted on another.
Chelsie Tyler and Baylee Hayes also scored goals for the Mustangs, while Emma Allen and Megan Tyler each added an assist.
The lone goal from Waterloo came off a penalty kick awarded in the second half.
Dansville keeper Emma Butters recorded six saves.
Dansville improved to 11-3-3 on season with two of those losses coming against No. 3 state-ranked Bath-Haverling.
Hayes, a junior middie leads Dansville with 12 goals and two assists while junior middie Megan Tyler has nine goals and five assists.
Dansville has outscored opponents 52-14 on the season.
Dansville will host the winner of No. 5 Penn Yan and No. 12 Wellsville on Saturday.
CLASS B
No. 7 Livonia 4, No. 10 Midlakes 1
Hannah Weldy scored two goals as the Lady Bulldogs cruised into the quarterfinals with the win over their Finger Lakes foe Tuesday.
Blair Wallman and Olivia Feehan also added goals for the winners.
“Midlakes came out with a lot of momentum but after a while, we started possessing and controlling our passing game,” Livonia coach Jen Bugbee said. “Getting back to our rhythm helped our play and we were able to work the ball much better.”
Livonia improved to 9-5-3.
They will visit No. 2 Canisteo-Greenwood/Jasper Troupsburg in the quarterfinals.
C-G/J-T survived with the 3-2 victory over Greece Odyssey.
