LCAA’S FINEST

CANISTEO – Avery Bernard and Eliza Parker both scored goals as No. 7 Livonia upset No. 2 seeded Canisteo-Greenwood 2-0 in Class B quarterfinal action Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, Bernard, a senior, scored the game’s first goal off a corner kick from Olivia Feehan with 32 minutes remaining.

Parker, a junior, put some insurance on Livonia’s lead when she scored on a run with 3:20 remaining.

For Bernard, it was her sixth goal of the season while Parker netted her second.

Livonia head coach Jen Bugbee was happy with the way her kids stuck to the game plan and battled all game.

“Today we battled,” Bugbee said. “We had to work the ball into spaces to find seams and we were able to do that well. Kia Pribanich (senior) and  Kirstin Einhiple (junior) both had impressive games. It’s exciting to see how the work the girls have put in has brought us back to the semifinals. They deserve to be here.”

Livonia will meet No. 3 Mynderse in Tuesday’s semifinals.
