It was a great way to move on in the Class D Section V football bracket as No. 3 Canisteo-Greenwood downed No. 6 Geneseo/Mt. Morris, 54-12.
On offense, Canisteo-Greenwood was explosive on the ground and through the air.
Quarterback Collin Cox threw for two touchdowns and 64 yards in the air, and he only had to complete five passes as the running game did the rest.
Griffin Weeks (14 carries for 142 yards) and Lucas Mason (six carries for 126 yards) each scored two touchdowns. On defense, Mason stopped any chance of a Geneseo rally with three interceptions.
On the other side of the bracket, Batavia Notre Dame defeated Oakfield-Alabama/Elba, 20-14.
Next week, Canisteo-Greenwood (7-2) will travel to Avon (6-2) to take on No. 2 Avon while Notre Dame faces No. 1 York/Pavilion (7-1).
CLASS C Playoffs
A good season for the Hornell Red Raiders ended with a 33-6 loss to Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry.
Hornell finishes 4-5 while NO. 3 LWP is 7-2 and will take on Attica/Alexander, the No. 2 seed.
LWP was led by Bailey Schell who had 10 rushes for 147 ards and two touchdowns while QB Bryce Tallman had a TD pass and a TD run.
Class B playoffs
No. 7 DANSVILLE/WAYLAND-COHOCTON (1-7) 14
No. 2 HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA (7-2) 42
HFL had a strong showing in the Section V Class B playoffs, downing Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton, 42-14.
HFL will take on Batavia next. For HFL, QB Matt Meacham threw for 223 yards and five touchdowns on Andrew Wanzenried caught three of those TD passes.
