Dale C. Farrand, 78, formerly of Canisteo

FORT EDWARD – CANISTEO – Dale C. Farrand, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his home following a long illness.

Born May 20, 1945 in Lewes, DE, he was the son of the late Carlton and June Farrand of Canisteo, NY. Dale graduated from Canisteo High School in1963. Dale earned an Associate degree from Adirondack Community College in 1986, a Bachelor of Science degree from Kaplan University in 2005, and a certification from the National Institute of Engineering Technology.

He was employed as a resident office engineer inspector and an engineering consultant for many companies such as Shumar Engineering, Clough Harbor, DKI Engineering in Clifton Park, and Popli Design Group in Poughkeepsie. He was also employed as by Earth Tech Inc in Louisiana for disaster recovery for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Dale resided in Fort Edward for the past 24 years with his wife Catherine. He loved spending time with his little dog, affectionately called “Dingo”. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, the Syracuse Orangemen and the NY Giants. He enjoyed cooking for his family, gardening, and traveling for his employment.

In addition to his parents, Dale is predeceased by his brother Donald Farrand, as well as his brother-in-law Tom Huemme.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Catherine, his son, Richard (Rhonda) Farrand of Canisteo, daughter Sherene (Todd) Burdick of Greenwood, his siblings: Diane (Paul) Sherman, Donna Huemme, Darleen (Robert) Richardson, Dawn Salzman, David Farrand, and Dan (Darlene) Farrand, his grandchildren: Ashley (Jonathan) Tuite, Sharalyn (Ryan) Rice, Patrick (Brittany) Burdick and Nicholas Burdick, his great-grandchildren: Alivian, Hunter and Morgan, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was also loved by his step-children Edward, Donald, Eric, and Tracey.

At Dale’s request, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton and staff, and a very special thank you to the team at DCI Glens Falls, and Glens Falls Hospital.
