Congressman Nick Langworthy Announces Over $2 Million in Federal Funding for SUNY Alfred Research Foundation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today,Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced a U.S. Department of Education grant for the Research Foundation of State University of New York (SUNY) at Alfred in the amount of $2,040,230. This grant is part of the federal Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Program.

“The Research Foundation at SUNY Alfred does great work to advance life-changing research and build our skilled workforce in a number of fields from medicine to artificial intelligence technology,” said Rep. Langworthy. “This investment will allow the Research Foundation to open new doors for local students and drive innovation in our community. I’m proud to support their efforts and look forward to our continued partnership to pursue new educational opportunities and economic development in our region.”

According to the Department of Education, the purpose of the Rural Postsecondary & Economic Development Grant Program is to improve rates of postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and completion among rural students through development of high-quality career pathways aligned to high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand industry sectors and occupations in the region.

Congressman Nick Langworthy represents the 23rd Congressional District of New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties and parts of Erie County. Visit
